25. Pukeiti

Over seven decades Pukeiti has built up one of the world’s biggest and most distinct collections of rhododendrons and other exotics, their rich colours bursting into life against a backdrop of lush native rainforest. The 360ha property also boasts an absorbing range of free family-orientated activities, walking tracks for all fitness levels, a modern visitor centre, the popular Rainforest Eatery and various accommodation options including the Lodge Studio and the Piwakawaka Family Hut which can be booked on the website. Pukeiti has free guided walking tours during the festival at 2pm daily as well as mobility vehicle rides for less-able visitors on the hour from 10am–1pm. Please let us know beforehand if you are bringing large groups during this busy time. Guided walks and mobility vehicle tours can be booked privately outside of the festival on the website for a fee. The Rainforest Eatery is opening early for the duration of the Festival and is offering some scrumptious and healthy breakfast options before a walk amongst the rhododendrons. Open 8.30am–4pm.
