Boutique tour

Join Jo Collins and Leah James, passionate garden personalities, riding your own Italian Vespa on a tour of 3 beautiful inner-city gardens followed by a leisurely lunch at The Nice Hotel.

Nikau Grove is your first garden. The 1 ½ acre garden is in a moist gully and features hundreds of Nikau Palms giving it a South Pacific feel. This peaceful, mature, garden incorporates a variety of intimate and larger spaces, with an emphasis on native plants, which link seamlessly into exotic plantings. Lush exotics, including strelitzia, rhododendrons, abutilons and orchids, create interest and colour throughout. A variety of exotic palms have also been added, particularly around the swimming pool area.

Three Elms is the next stop. Here Lisa and Shane McNab have created a many-layered garden that showcases creative landscaping on a steep property. Garden rooms and restful spaces unfold from patios and a central double koru lawn. Traditional and tropical plantings are woven together to build a lush palette of foliage and colour.

The third garden is The Yews which has been lovingly crafted by Lee and Roland Bromley. This formal large garden is inspired by traditional English style features to complement the relocated 1800s grand old villa. The property features overflowing roses, rhododendrons and yew hedging which defines expansive flat lawns.

There will be a little surprise and delight stop off on your way to your lunch at the Nice Hotel where you can relax over your meal in the urban oasis that has been created for the benefit of the guests.
